Mark Hershberger led the design team that included Carney Architects in the competition winning submission for the design and redevelopment of historic Artist Point in Yellowstone National Park. Artist Point is one of the most visited sites in Yellowstone and has experienced significant degradation from overuse and poor circulation. The proposed plan protects the historically significant quality and character of the site while providing controlled circulation, viewing and interpretive spaces and stabilization and reclamation of eroded areas. Bus and automobile access, drop-off and parking are important elements of the project scope, and include phasing plans that would reduce parking with the future implementation of a park-wide transit solution.
